The Fabric of our Lives

Friends with a Fish Photos

picture this!

Those whippersnappers grow so fast, it seems like they’ve outgrown their favorite clothes before they’ve even had a chance to get them dirty.

So turn those pieces into a more enduring favorite with the help of Friends with a Fish. The service is the brainchild of photographer Juliette Conroy, who after realizing she didn’t have time to sew her kids’ clothing into a quilt, took pictures of them instead. The result? A series of beautifully abstract, color-intense photos.

And because Conroy’s personal collection made such a splash, she’s now commissioning work. Just mail her a few pieces (your kid’s favorite pair of PJ’s, a blanket, a swimsuit) and wait to get the photos via e-mail. Choose which image(s) you like the best, and she’ll ship you the final product — a light-saturated print — along with your original piece of clothing.

So finally your kid’s garb can amount to something.

Besides a big pile of laundry, that is.
