Now that fall harvest is here, a trip to your local family farm is as easy as ABC.

A Is for Apples
Pick 10 varieties at Jonamac Orchard (19412 Shabbona Road; 815-825-2158), then reward yourselves with homemade fudge from the country store. (Closes October 26.)

B Is for Baa
Feed sheep, ducks, and goats at Lincolnshire’s Didier Farms (16678 Aptakisic Road; 847-634-3291). Stick around for crafts, pony rides, and the bounce house. (Closes October 31.)

C Is for Corn
Navigate a corn maze shaped in the likenesses of JohnMcCain and Barack Obama at Crest Hill’s Siegel’s Cottonwood Farms (17250 South Weber Road; 815-741-2693). The tractor-drawn hayride to a pumpkin field will get junior’s vote. (Opens September 27; closes October 31.)
