Kelsey Tsonton’s Lemonade Stand Secrets

Perhaps you’ve seen our buddy Kelsey Tsonton and her fabled lemonade stand around town. Don’t let the fruits of your own labor go sour: Take some tips from the 8-year-old master.
1. Hand out fliers to neighbors before the sale.
2. Decorate stand with colorful signs and balloons.
3. Make homemade lemonade by mixing syrup (1 cup sugar dissolved in 1 cup water) with 3 cups water and the juice of 4 lemons. Pour into a pitcher.
4. Store in a cooler then pour into ice-filled cups as needed.
5. Charge $1/glass and donate profits to a charity like Common Threads, which educates kids on healthy eating.
Now that’s sweet.
Tsonton’s lemonade stand can be found on Chicago’s north side during July and August. For more information on Common Threads, go to commonthreads.org.
