Tonight’s drag queen race down 17th Street is all about the high heels, but this weekend is up to you. Earn your racing stripes with a last-minute, top-to-toe idea.

Bo Obama
Head: Fetch a Jheri curl wig from Meeps. Go for a short-haired pup style and stick in some ears.
Shoulders: Wear black fleece, but give yourself a white chest spot. Add a colorful flower lei from Ipolei. The new floral service started by two native Hawaiians creates fresh ones using orchids, roses, and carnations (ipoleis@yahoo.com).
Toes: white fuzzy feet.

Pirate’s Booty Call
Head: Maryland milliner Allison Harris of Caribbean Rose Pirate Emporium hand-blocks and stitches pirate hats with curved brims and rosettes. She can turn a custom job around on a dime and arrange for pickup, delivery, or messenger service (240-631-8868 or souloftherose@starpower.net).
Shoulders: Stripes, parrots, or even a bustier will work.
Toes: swashbuckle-heeled boots.

Real Housewife Mafia
Head: the three-headed reality TV monster. Gather a gaggle to represent each of D.C.’s homegrown reality shows. Rule of thumb: the bigger the hair, the bigger the drama.
Shoulders: The more you bare, the more we love you.
Toes: tap shoes for dancing around the drama.

Now go be hell on heels.
